Biography
Dr Dara de Poire is an Assistant Lecturer in Education with Expertise in Irish at Marino Institute of Education. His research interests include the Irish language, Sociolinguistics, Education and Terminology. As part of his role in MIE, Dr de Poire works with students across the B.Ed, B.Oid, PME, Ed Studies, ECE programmes to help them engage and develop their Irish language proficiency while also exploring the role of Irish as a minority language in both a social and cultural context. He has worked in both post-primary and third level education. His doctoral research, ‘An investigation of the attitudes of post-primary teachers in immersion education in Ireland towards new Irish terminology, was awarded ‘The International Award for Outstanding Achievement in Terminology Research and Development’ by the European Association for Terminology in 2025.
