MIE Collections in TARA
In collaboration with TCD Library, MIE Library has set up an institutional repository on TARA (Trinity’s Access to Research Archive). TARA is an open-access platform where staff and research students can publish their work.
Trinity follows a Green Open Access policy, which aligns with the National Principles for Open Access and the requirements of all Irish funding agencies. Publishing your research open access:
-
Increases its discoverability
-
Boosts readership and impact
-
Increases citations
For more information on the benefits of depositing your work in open-access repositories like TARA, see the Benefits of Open Access section below.
How to submit your research
Submitting your work to TARA is simple. Please note:
-
You cannot submit the publisher’s final version of an article, as this may violate copyright.
-
Instead, submit the accepted manuscript – the version that has been peer-reviewed but not yet copyedited, typeset, or had metadata applied by the publisher.
-
You can check the journal policy on Sherpa Romeo.
If you’re unsure about a journal’s policy, the Library can help. We also accept:
-
Doctoral or research theses
-
Conference papers
-
Book chapters
-
Other research materials
Steps to submit:
-
Submit your paper to your chosen journal (open access or subscription-based). Try to retain copyright where possible.
-
Keep the final peer-reviewed version (accepted manuscript).
-
Submit it to the Library by email. The Library will perform copyright checks before uploading it to the MIE page on TARA.
You can also choose to link it to the publisher’s version. -
If you have a TCD login, you can upload your research directly to TARA yourself.
