Gala Dinner

The gala dinner will take place on the evening of Thursday the 28th of August in the beautiful Clontarf Castle Hotel, which was built in 1172. Clontarf Castle Hotel is a luxurious haven tucked away in suburban Dublin. It has maintained the magnificent splendour of the original Clontarf Castle whilst offering guests the comforts of a luxury 4-star deluxe hotel. For more on the history of Clontarf castle see here
The gala dinner will be held in the Great Hall of the Castle. It will incur an additional fee of €85. This will include a prosecco reception, a three-course meal and wine. Traditional Irish entertainment will be provided. If you would like to attend the gala dinner, please reserve your place during conference registration.
Trip to Newgrange World Heritage Site
The first of the optional social events is a tour of the World Heritage Site Newgrange, Co. Meath. This tour will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday the 26th of August . The Newgrange passage tomb, which was built by Stone Age farmers, is 5,200 years old making it older than Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids of Giza. A coach will collect delegates from Marino Institute of Education and take them to the site for a guided tour. The cost of the tour includes entry into the passage tomb. Casino Marino Walking Tour
Attendees can participate in a walking tour to the Casino Marino, which has been described as a miniature architectural masterpiece and dates from the mid-18th century. The Casino is close by to the grounds of MIE so delegates will walk there on a guided tour. You can read out more about Casino Marino here

Some delegates may prefer to explore the city independently and advice for independent exploration can be provided with maps, guides and suitable direction. Visitors may want to visit the National Gallery, the National Museum, and the Book of Kells or take some time to stroll along the pedestrianised Grafton Street to shop or to people-watch while sipping a coffee in Bewley’s traditional café.
